IBM unveils new mainframe computer more efficient and powerful Microsoft

The new System z10 has a capacity equivalent to 1,500 servers and will cost a million dollars
San Francisco, (EFE) .- The U.S. technology group IBM today introduced a new central computer or 'mainframe' more efficient and that the company says is 50 percent more powerful than previous models.
The new System z10 cost a million dollars and has a capacity equivalent to 1,500 servers based on the popular x86 design, IBM said.
However, it consumes 85 percent less power and occupies 85 percent less space than 1,500 servers in this design, added the group.
The System z10, which IBM has invested about 1,500 million dollars, using 64 processors compared with 54 of its predecessor, the z9, which gives more power.
Although some experts consider a declining market, IBM claims that its mainframe business has grown in five of the last seven quarters, driven mostly by demand in emerging markets like Brazil, India, China or Russia.
Such computers are used by large enterprises in the processing of huge amounts of data, for example, banking.
